Teen Haven…Come Grow With Me.

New School!!!

Hiya Surgers!! Sorry for the delay in posting, i’ve officially started my lessons at my new school!!

Well it’s not like proper school yet, more like preparation for when i do in September which is actually extremly different from when i usually start school in January but i still consider it school. I’m going to Saint Andrews International School in Malawi and from what iv’e experienced so far its an awesome school.

At first I was really nervous. You know bein the “new kid” and the fact that this was the first Malawian school i had ever been to but both the teachers and the students were EXTREMELY nice. The school has a different kind of learning system to what i’m used to. It’s very diverse and everyone gets a chance to be apart of the learnin experience

In the past two days that iv’e been going there, not only is it fun in the classroom, but i’ve noticed people are just as active on the sports field, just like my school in Zimbabwe.

Having fun so far and i feel like i never left my school in Zimbabwe. CROSSING MY FINGERS HOPING IT GETS EVEN BETTER 🙂

I’ll answer any questions you may have about startn at a new school

Hie Surgers!! This past Sunday i went on a culinary adventure to an Indian styled restaurant called the Bombay and boy, did i enjoy myself

The resturant, which is located in the city of Blantyre, Malawi, opposite the Protea hotel and opens an 6pm. Once you enter, you are treated to beautiful music and an ever smiling staff. The variety of different pieces of astounding art makes the place homely and provides a relaxing atmosphere. IT’S AS COMFORTABLE AS HOME!!  Once you are seated you are immediately given a little something to snack on whilst you wait to order an no i do’nt mean the usual bread rolls. You’re treated to roasted pita bread with a variety of spicy sauces on the side. I personally prefer the sweet chilli sauce, but the green chilli pepper sauce and avocado spice sauce are just as great.

Because it was our first time there we asked the manager (who by the way was extra nice) what he thought were the best dishes on the menu. oh ya and do’nt let me forget about the drinks. Most of us had the usual soft drink but one of us ordered a traditional tea called MASALA tea and it’s served with milk but sugar is optional. Once the food arrived our mouths began to water as the pleasant aroma filled the air. We had:

Butter Chiken- chicken with curry and cream

Mixed Grill- red sausages and a variety of red and yellow chicken

Curried Mutton- Mutton in curried gravy

Chipati- a special kind of flat roasted bread covered with garlic and butter (My fav! ;))

Basmati rice

The food was sooo good an we could barely finish it!!

We were about to leave when the manager came back and offered us free ice cream!! Who can refuse free ice cream!! As soon as we finished, we happily left with our tummy’s full and smiling with content. WE WILL MOST DEFINETLY BE BACK and if your ever in Malawi be sure to visit.

dont worry i took a picture of the delicious meal 🙂Image

I’ve lived in Africa most of my life and i am an African, but when i moved to Malawi from Zimbabwe it was the first time i’d ever seen a wild animal as a pet. I dont mean a bird. The first people i met when i arrived owned a lodge and they had a pet impala. She was still a baby and they were nursing her back to health at their lodge and although she had a lot of space to frolic I still found it amazing that they owned an actual impala!!! I know that some people may think that its not extraordinay for an African to have a wild animal living in your backyard but it actually is!!! I have personally never owned a wild animal and i do’nt know anyone (besides them of course) who has owned 1. Dont worry I did’nt leave the lodge without a picture.

Texting. What can i say

ImageTexting. We all do it and sometimes it’s better to text instead of talking face to face. But I know i’m not alone when I say texts can backfire MASSIVELY! Have you Surgers ever wanted to send a text to a friend about someone who really made you angry but because your thinking about that person so much you accidently send it to them :o?! I heard a story a while ago about a guy who went away on vacation. he really missed his girlfriend but instead of texting “i wish you were here” he messed up and texted “i wish you were HER” OOPS.

Texting is’nt bad its actually super useful, but let’s all duffle, uh oh I mean double check 🙂

We teens have insecurities (whats new :p) but these days body image is a HUGE issue, not just in the Western countriesu but here in Africa too! Lots of magazines make it seem like looking like Barbie and Ken dolls makes you popular which kinda makes you look at yourself and say “i’ll never look like that and  i’ll never be popular”. I’ve been through that and trust me, being someone your not only makes you feel worse and i’ve realised this: Whats the point if your just going to look like everybody else. it does’nt make you special, just a clone and you’ll never know whether people like you for you or who your pretending to be. UNIQUENESS MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL and next time you feel a little insecure REMEMBER that!!! 😉

This made me chuckle!!!!!
